ULTIMO General Meeting

technical advances,
collaboration and a shared vision

22.07.2025
On 24, 25 and 26 June 2025, the MobileThinking team had the pleasure to take part in the General Assembly of the European ULTIMO project, hosted this year in Herford, Germany. Three inspiring days marked by workshops, technical presentations, strategic exchanges... and convivial moments to strengthen the human links between partners.

ULTIMO is a major European project, bringing together 22 partners from different countries and sectors, with a common ambition : large-scale deployment of on-demand autonomous mobility services, integrated into a Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) ecosystem. For MobileThinking, this is a stimulating challenge where technological innovation, user-centred design and sustainability meet.

Rich exchanges and concrete progress

Over those three days, a number of workshops and coordination points helped to move the various aspects of the project forward. Between technical demonstrations, discussions on systems integration, feedback from local pilots and strategic decision-making, the partners worked hand in hand to align objectives and accelerate the operational deployment of ULTIMO.
For our team, it was also an opportunity to present the evolutions of Pulse Dashboard, our centralised supervision platform developed to enable operators to monitor and control autonomous mobility services in real time. At the GM, we were able to gather precious user feedback, identify new functional priorities, and think about ways of optimising future iterations.

Experimenting with the future of mobility

One of the highlights of the meeting was the opportunity to test drive the new autonomous vehicle developed by ZF, one of the project's technology partners. It was a real-life, inspiring experience that gave us a clearer idea of the rapid evolution of these technologies, and their potential to transform our public transport systems over the long term.
These trials confirm the belief shared by the consortium : autonomous vehicles are not a gadget of the future, but a key component of a more flexible, inclusive and low-carbon form of mobility. By integrating them into on-demand services tailored to local needs, we are opening up new prospects, particularly for suburban and rural areas that are often underserved.

A human dynamic at the core of the project

Over and above the technical and organisational aspects, these days also enabled us to build closer links between people. Working on a European project of this scale, with its varied professional cultures and complementary expertise, requires more than just online meetings : it means creating a genuine spirit of collaboration and trust.
The informal moments - bowling, mini-golf, shared meals - have greatly contributed to strengthening this collective dynamic. Because behind the lines of code, the technical specifications and the roadmaps, ULTIMO is above and beyond all a human adventure, driven by men and women committed to making mobility smarter and more accessible.

What we'll keep in mind

These three days enabled us to :
  • Strengthening coordination between partners on current projects
  • Testing ZF's autonomous vehicle in real-life conditions
  • Improving the interface and functions of the Pulse Dashboard
  • Identifying new areas for development in the coming months
  • And above all... sharing a common vision of mobility designed for users, regions and the environment.

Thanks to the project partners

We would like to express our warmest thanks to all the partners in the ULTIMO project for their commitment, their open approach and their professionalism. Special thanks to Andreas Fehr and Lars Abeler for their smooth organisation and warm welcome throughout the event.

At MobileThinking, we're motivated and aligned to continue making an active contribution to this major transformation of the European mobility landscape.
