Metting the experts in autonomous vehicles

07/06/2018
This Wednesday, July 4, 2018, three members of our team, Jérôme, Kevin and Carlos went to Lyon, more precisely in the Confluence district to meet the experts of autonomous vehicles, NAVYA.
First of all, who is NAVYA in a few words?
NAVYA is a French company specialising in developing innovative, smart and sustainable mobility solutions. NAVYA develops driverless, automated and electric vehicles that are designed for the intelligent transport of people and goods on the first and last mile. The aim of these autonomous vehicles, independent of all infrastructure, is to revolutionize the mobility and productivity of citizens and employees on private sites.

Purpose of our visit
We remind you that MobileThinking is part of the European project Avenue H2020.

Being the company responsible for creating the services that will accompany the users of these autonomous shuttles, it seemed important and necessary to us to go and meet the manufacturers of these vehicles.

The applications MobileThinking will develop will allow users, to know the location of the shuttles, to plan their trip or even buy tickets.

The main objectives of this visit were to get to know the vehicles better, their development plan over the coming years, their current technical limitations, but also and above all to meet the team in charge of the operational part as well as the R&D of NAVYA.

Our impressions after our visit are very positive!

During our trip aboard the shuttle, the feeling of driving seemed very natural to us. We didn't feel like we were in an autonomous vehicle. So there was no reason for our fears to exist. The technical aspect is very impressive (Lidar, GPS, Camera, proximity sensors etc.).

We are delighted to see the future passengers adopt this new mode of transport and thank the whole NAVYA team for having welcomed us and for having allowed us to deepen our knowledge on their shuttles.
